Prof Timothy Vartanian
Timothy Vartanian, Professor at the Brain and Mind Research Institute and the Department of Neurology, Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, obtained his M.D. degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Chicago. He completed his Medical Internship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and his Neurology Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
From 1994 to 2009 Dr. Vartanian worked as Assistant Professor, then Associate Professor, at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Center at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Since 2009 he has led the clinical and research efforts at the Judith Jaffe Multiple Sclerosis Center at Weill Cornell Medical College in Manhattan.
His principal areas of research focus on understanding the molecular basis of new lesion formation in MS, environmental triggers for MS, innate immunity and myelin regeneration and repair.
